Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram

Kailasanatha Temple in Kanchi is one of the ancient surviving structural temples. This temple was built by Rajasimha I (700-728). This temple has wonderful sculptures and paintings (though the paintings are mostly faded) that should not be missed. The sitraalayams (the small temples) in the Prakara in this temple are unique. Prastara team has photo documented this temple. some of the photographs are seen here.

Cave temples of the Pallavas

This is one of the most unique visits by the prastara team, perhaps a great start for us. With the help of Dr.K.R.Srinivasan’s book, we marked the places to be visited and we followed the map. Many cave temples which were the starting point for the wonderful South Indian Art & Architectural tradition were explored, documented and studied. It was a two day visit and we were thrilled by the beauty of Thondaimandalam and the beautiful locations that Pallvas chose to create such marvel.
